Help Give a Makeover to a Senior Living Community

Consider making a positive difference by helping to spruce up a senior community’s shared spaces!

The outdoor and indoor common spaces at Hickory Crossing could use a spruce! Having a cozy indoor common area to enjoy the company of friends and visitors encourages socialization and has a positive impact on one’s mood and overall well-being. Studies have shown that isolation and loneliness in senior populations is linked to increased risks for a variety of physical and mental conditions. We want our seniors to thrive and live their best lives! Creating welcoming common areas where residents feel inspired to engage with others at home is a great way to help.

We are looking for a group to help provide Hickory Crossing residents with a great space to enjoy each other’s company in the spaces they share, both indoors and outdoors. Here are a few things that would be helpful and very much appreciated:

• Plant flowers

• Decorate bathrooms in the common area

• Install rain barrels so residents can water flowers

• Clean windows

• We would love to have new furniture for common spaces

• We would love to have a new small counter ice machine

• Repaint parking space lines and handicapped spaces with stencil

• Power wash outdoor areas

This project will improve the quality of life for seniors who enjoy spending time with others and socializing both outdoors and indoors while at home. Thank you in advance for your generosity and time!

LIFE's Vintage Housing communities offer full access to community-based services, fostering independence, socialization and the ability to age in place. Working on a project at one of these communities helps the residents live richer, fuller lives of independence.
